Sadly the horrendous forecast for week 9 of the Senior Captain’s Cup (SCC) fully lived up to expectation resulting in just 14 golfers choosing a wet golf day over domestic chores. ☔️
Ironically the keenest of all and the first out ready to play on the 1st tee whilst others were contemplating going home was Maurice Tillotson, who called it a day after just 6 holes! 🚶🏼‍♂️
Winner on the day with another impressive shot pulling score of 41 was John Dutton 🌟 followed by Ian Peirson in 2nd place with 37 clearly showing us all the value of playing every day.
3rd place on 35 points went to past club skipper 👨🏼‍✈️Chris McLaren who pipped our resident jubilant Barnsley ⚽️ fan Mike Day on countback.
Whilst last week’s new tournament leader milked the occasion to the full, a change at the top was inevitable and so it passed as Mr Consistent Ray Hawley moved back to the top, despite his worst score of the season with a meagre 26!
As we reach halfway it’s a Batman and Robin double act at the top of the table as Ray leads his buddy Ian Peirson by 11 points who in turn leads last week’s leader, Pete Leskovac by a further 2 points.
With 9 more weeks to play there’s ample time for the chasing pack to stake their claim for the coveted trophy 🏆
Next Monday 3 August sees week 10 for which all entrants must submit their name to Andrew Haigh by email or text no later than Friday at 3pm.
