Other Types Of Club Membership

There are other types of West Bradford Golf Club membership options available, for golfers who are based outside of the West Yorkshire area, for golfers who don't get to play golf very often, or for people who don't even play golf, but would still like to enjoy the facilities that the West Bradford Clubhouse has to offer.

Second Club Membership

Second Club Membership is designed for local players based in the immediate area (as opposed to Country Membership - see below - which is designed for players based outside of the area), who are already Full Members of another golf club, but want to add on a West Bradford membership as a second club. Second Club Members will have their handicaps maintained by their primary golf club, and will not be entitled to enter some West Bradford Club tournaments - but they will be able to play the golf course and make use of the club facilities whenever they like. based outside of the area. 7-Day Second Club Membership is currently available for £450 per annum, 6-Day Second Club Membership is currently available for £350 - with no joining fee.
To check whether you are eligible for Second Club Membership, or to apply for Second Club Membership, please complete the form below.

Country Membership

Country Membership is available for players who are Full Members of another golf club outside of the area, and they themselves are primarily based outside of the area, but want to play West Bradford when they are in the West Yorkshire area. Country Membership is similar to Second Club Membership, but designed for players who are not local to West Bradford Golf Club. Country Membership is currently available at a cost of £325 per annum, with no joining fee.

Advantages of Membership

The advantages of joining a golf club, over being a nomadic golfer, are well documented – the ability to play unlimited spur of the moment golf, access to members only tee times, the ability to sign in guests, a CONGU handicap and a thriving social scene.

We believe that the top six advantages to joining West Bradford Golf Club, over other golf clubs, are:-

1. Full, unlimited access to one of the region’s finest, most characterful Parkland golf courses
For less than £17 a week you have access to a golf course built by James Carter & Co – the construction firm who laid the turf at The Old Course, Sunningdale - and designed by renowned course architects Hawtree + Son – the firm behind venerable classics such as Royal Birkdale, Hillside, Royal Aberdeen and Foxhills. Good golf courses require thought as well as skill, and Fred Hawtree made sure that strategy was a part of West Bradford’s course layout.

2. Full use of The Clubhouse at West Bradford
The historic Clubhouse at West Bradford was originally constructed as a Manor House in 1720 for the Bolling family, it has served as West Bradford’s clubhouse since 1904. The clubhouse accommodates a bar, a large main room with access to a paved seating area overlooking the 1st fairway and 18th green, The 19th Hole – a private snug with its own bar access, and a members only Games room complete with a full sized Snooker table, a pool table and a darts board.
A separate entrance will allow you access to the West Bradford Golf Club changing rooms – equipped with member’s lockers, toilets and showers. Both Men’s and Ladies changing rooms have access doors leading directly out onto the first tee for the convenience of club members.

3. Use of the practice and teaching facilities at West Bradford
Members have access to the onsite practice and teaching facilities at the club, which include a short single bay driving range, warm up nets, a nine hole practice putting green, a practice chipping and pitching area complete with green and a practice bunker.
Jamie Coverley, our resident PGA Professional, manages an advanced indoor swing studio – The Performance Studio. The Performance Studio at West Bradford uses the very latest technology to analyse a golfers swing.

4. Our members
West Bradford has a reputation as “The Friendly Golf Club” for good reason – our members like to make visitors and new members feel welcome. You’ll never be short of a playing, or indeed a drinking partner at West Bradford Golf Club. Our members reputation for friendliness is not a new thing, it’s always been that way here. Walter Hodgson, Club Secretary in 1950 put it best when he said:
“West Bradford has consistently aimed at the fundamentals required for the success of any organisation such as a Golf Club; a good course, a good house, a good table, good conduct on and off the course, and — above all — good fellowship. Visitors may enjoy these, too, in full measure and they can certainly be sure of a courteous, warm-hearted Yorkshire welcome!”

5. Regular competitive golf - for everyone
If you want to join a golf club to play regular competitive golf, you’ve come to the right place. The Seniors Section play a competition every Monday the results of which count towards a year-long golf league. The Ladies Section has a competition every Tuesday, and the club hosts an open-to-all-members midweek tournament on a Wednesday. On Thursday evenings both the Ladies and the Rabbits sections play inter club team competitions, and on Friday evenings the Men's Scratch and 8-15 teams do the same. It’s the turn of our Lawrence Batley team on Friday, who play inter club matches on Friday afternoons.
On Saturday, like most golf clubs, it’s the biggest competition day of the week as members compete in qualifiers for large annual competitions such as The Gold Cup or The Wade Shield in a quest to add their name to honours boards that date back to 1901 – the difference at West Bradford is that ALL members are welcome to play in the Saturday Competition – Male or Female.
Finally on Sunday the club hosts Mixed Tournaments along with other varied competitions throughout the year such as The Captains Four Ball Betterball in July or The Presidents Mixed Competition in August. All in all, you certainly won’t go short of competitive golf at West Bradford.

6. The Members Intranet
West Bradford Golf Club members have access to a cutting edge Members Intranet - a private, members only part of the club website.
The Members Intranet consists of six private "Section pages", and a Members Portal. The Section Pages for the Seniors, Ladies, Mixed, Swindle, Junior and Rabbits sections, allow members to talk to each other, post notices, view forthcoming fixtures and check previous results. The Members Portal is the hub of the Intranet - full of useful apps for club members, giving them a chance to read the latest club news, book tee times, enter Open Competitions, view and book tickets for forthcoming social events, and much more.
