As the Seniors Winter League goes in to the second half of what has already been a very competitive tournament, it seems many players wanted to make a statement of intent with their recent Monday score.

As John Goodyear returned to the clubhouse with an impressive return of 40 points, it certainly looked like a winning score. Little did we know that he was quickly followed and surpassed by the following 3 players, Ian Peirson, Ray Hawley & Alan Greenwood, who all scored 41 points each!

With Seniors Captain Andrew Haigh's group being the only one to finish, it was a case of carefully scrutinising all three of the 41 point cards to identify a winner on countback, when lo and behold in trooped Andrew with a huge beaming smile on his face and his card tightly gripped in his hand.

It's no wonder he was smiling from ear to ear as he modestly declared he had somehow returned a score of 47 points!!! Yes 47 magnificent points, which show that Andrew is clearly relishing his new responsibilities as Seniors skipper.

As the battle for a winner rolls on it's a case of very well played Andrew and to all the other notable scorers on the day.

The up to date winter league table and future dates are shown via the Seniors Section page of the club website.
