Despite the threat of Coronavirus sixteen attended the final week of the Seniors Winter League by carefully observing the government guidelines on avoiding contact. Whilst there were no masks 😷 in evidence, all contact was minimised by outside self registration and card submission and no prize presentation.

With all to play for there were some excellent scores, notably a 41 points from winner on the day Richard Adams, which pushed him up to finish an overall 3rd equal in the league with another big hitter, Alan Greenwood. 2nd place on the day with 40 points went to Mike Day, which showed he was certainly not worried about the impending self isolation rules for the elderly 7️⃣0️⃣🎂 May!😉

Steady away Steve Godfrey returned yet another good score to finish 3rd on the day with 39 points.

Despite the good scores the top 2 positions on the leaderboard remained as they were at the start, leaving yours truly 🤗 Pete Leskovac the new Seniors Winter League winner 🏆 followed closely by runner up Ian Peirson. 5th place went to Roy Baker.

In summary it was s challenging and high scoring competition given the use of mats, forward tees and temporary greens, but nevertheless a good way of maintaining competitive golf for our seniors during what has been an unprecedented winter in terms of wet weather conditions.

So it’s a huge thank you from the seniors committee to all who contributed throughout the October - March period.

Sadly, the horizon looks a little bleak for us all with the threat of Coronavirus and looming self isolation government rules so let’s all hope that the coming months will not be as bad as feared and golf will prevail to be an outlet for us all. ⛳️ 🙏🏼
