Monday’s Week 8 of the Senior Captain’s Cup (SCC) revealed 2 new surprise table toppers with past seniors captains Paul Winter & Pete Leskovac showing the road to recovery from doing the job was long but achievable.
Arsenal fan Paul was clearly still in celebratory mood after his team’s surprise win over Man City as he more than matched their victory by romping home with ease scoring a humongous 4️⃣5️⃣ points and a resultant 2.9 shot drop in handicap! Paul has most definitely recovered his form after a lengthy lay off and is now looking towards a potential cup double after defeating fellow ‘Gooner’ Gary Cobb in the Seniors KO Cup 🏆🏆
Paul was followed in 2nd place by Mr Consistent, Ray Hawley, who came in with another par or better score of 38 points confirming his status as the bookies favourite to win the prestigious trophy for the first time.
Mike Day showed no sign of relegation worries for his beloved Barnsley by finishing 3rd on the day with 35 points, closely followed by yours truly, Pete Leskovac and Steve Warner both on 34.
Having a self imposed poetic licence, it would be remiss of me not to celebrate a new overall SCC tournament leader 🔝, especially as it’s my good self 🤗
Having played all 8 weeks I now sit comfortably at the top of the table with a huge one point lead, courtesy of a 4/3/3 on the 18th, over ‘super Senior’ Bob Helley!
For the uninitiated the SCC winner is the person with the highest aggregate stableford points total from their best 8 scores out of a possible 18 weeks. As can be seen from the attached league table some players like ‘favourite’ Ray Hawley have currently only played 7 weeks of the possible 8 so my table topping glory will only last one week, but I intend to make the most of it! Perhaps a bit like some of our West Bradford Leeds United fans, who are now on one long celebration for what will likely be a one season stay in the Premier League 😉
Hopefully my life at the top, be it only for one week, will not change me and I will remain humble and modest at all times so feel free to approach me within social distancing guidelines for any selfies 📸 to show your grandkids as it may never happen again 🤓
SCC Week 9 takes place next Monday 25 July for which entries MUST be submitted to skipper Andrew Haigh no later than 3PM on Friday.
Enjoy your week because I certainly will
#NumeroUno 🔝🏌🏻‍♂️
