Welcome to the WBGC Members Forum
The scene was set. High noon (even though it was 9am local time) and 2 of West Bradford’s finest sharpshooters in opposition, namely Steve Crawshaw and Alan Evans, who were dead level on points going in to the final week of the Senior Captain’s Cup. A tough battle was expected with both men looking to outgun the other to be top dog as there could only be one survivor and one ultimate winner.
It is tradition for the leading 3 players to always go out first, but with Maurice Tillotson in 3rd place and John Goodyear in 4th both away on holiday, it meant ‘Super Senior’ Colin Pitman joined Steve and Alan at the 1st tee.
What followed was another superb display of competition golf from Steve as he romped home by winning today with a magnificent score of 41 points, which was enough to edge out his buddy Alan and earn him the coveted championship title, a £100 pro shop voucher and the trophy, all of which will be presented at the Annual Seniors Christmas lunch on Wednesday 11 December.
As you can see from the attached final league table it has been a very close and competitive season and to go to the final week of 20 weeks reflects well on the quality of seniors golf within the club.
Notable performances on the day saw Ray Hawley, who has missed half the season through injury jump in to the top 10 with a final round of 40! Bob Helley also finished in style with a 37 along with Simon Major.
However, the overall winner is always a deserving one so it’s many congratulations to Stephen Crawshaw for becoming the West Bradford Senior Captain’s Cup Champion for 2019!!
