Tomorrow sees the culmination of the 2019 Senior Captain’s Cup, which started in April and has been over 20 qualifying weeks.
What a final week we have in store as several players are in with a chance of winning this prestigious seniors trophy together with a £100 pro shop voucher!
Steve Crawshaw and Alan Evans head the table with 294 points each from their best 8 cumulative scores and amazingly both players have a 34 points to beat to improve their points total.
The chasing pack of Maurice Tillotson & John Goodyear have the best chance of overtaking the top two but rumour has it they are both away on holiday!
Colin Pitman & Ian Peirson Sutcliffe in 5th & 6th respectively and are both more than capable of shooting a big score, leaving the rest of the field chasing a top ten finish.
Given the situation it is worth reiterating the rules of the competition in the event of a tie, which state the overall winner will be determined by applying the best cumulative score from 7 best scores and if still level the best 6 and so on till a winner is established. All other top 10 scores will be shared.
Using the above criteria shows Steve and Alan to be still level after 7 rounds, but Steve ahead as champion elect after 6. In simple terms this means Alan will need to score a minimum 35 points and one more than Steve to be the trophy winner.
To add to the excitement the top 3 placed players on Monday will tee off first together. The attached shows what score you need to achieve to improve your cumulative total.
It certainly doesn’t get any more exciting for our seniors so good luck to all competitors and may the best man win.
