Welcome to the WBGC Members Forum
Tomorrow sees West Bradford’s finest travel to Otley Golf Club for the annual Senior Captain’s Away Day to compete for The Doug Ingham Trophy.
Doug has been a member of West Bradford since 1978 during which time he has held the positions of Club President and Club Secretary with both pride and distinction.
Doug was also instrumental in setting up what is today’s Seniors Section, holding the post of Secretary/Treasurer for over 25 years during which time over £20,000 was raised for the club.
The current Seniors Section owe a great debt to Doug and his colleagues way back in the 80’s for setting up the section and leading the way for what it is today, including being inaugural members of the prestigious Lawrence Batley League.
In recognition, the Seniors Committee feel that naming the Senior Captain’s Away Day Trophy after Doug is a small token of appreciation for his loyal service to both the club and the seniors in over 50 years and counting!
Doug, who celebrated his 90th birthday earlier this year has sadly not had the best of health in recent times resulting in him not being able to play golf, so we wish him a speedy recovery and return to the golf course.
The Seniors Section Committee and it’s members would like to acknowledge Bob Helley for instigating the idea and to thank Doug for allowing the use of his name on the trophy for the first time tomorrow.
With 27 competitors the winner will undoubtedly be a worthy one!
