The Doug Ingham Trophy competition took place today on the Senior Captain’s Away Day at Otley Golf Club where the blustery winds and green conditions provided a very tough playing day.
This was borne out by the fact that the winning stableford score was just 33 points. However, having just renamed the trophy in recognition of Doug Ingham’s 50+ years of loyal service it was perhaps fitting that today’s winner was another long serving loyal member, Mr West Bradford himself, Colin Green.
Colin, pictured below with Seniors Captain Andrew Haigh will be formally presented with the trophy and voucher at the Seniors Christmas lunch on Wednesday 11 December.
Other prize winners on the day were Maurice Tillotson also with 33 but beaten on countback. Ray Hawley (or Howley according to Andrew Haigh) finished 3rd, with 32 with Pete Leskovac 4th on 31 followed by Colin Pitman with 30 in 5th.
Nearest the pin winners were Richard Adams and Alan Greenwood.
The day was supported by club skipper Chris McLaren, who travelled in specially from his holiday home. His attendance was much appreciated, particularly come the end of the day when he may have wished he’d stayed away after his usual £2 bets to beat his score resulted in collecting from just 3 players, but paying out to 20!!
An enjoyable day followed by an excellent meal, but spare a thought to Steve Godfrey who sadly had to leave early due to a family illness.
