Hi gents,

As you will be aware both Mike Davies and I have ‘escaped’ the Seniors Section Committee after many, many years service and together we now look forward to our ‘parole’ by joining the long list of WBGC backbenchers!

The long enforced layoff we have had and still are experiencing is perhaps an ideal time for change in readiness for the new golfing season and whilst one door closes, another one opens in the guise of our two new and most welcome additions to the committee, namely Eddie Presland and Tim Winterburn.

Eddie and Tim are both extremely personable, positive characters with fresh ideas and commitment and I’m confident that they will prove to be valuable additions to the seniors section committee for many years to come. I thank them both for being willing to ‘volunteer’ by stepping up to support our section in these unprecedented times and as such I wish them all the best in their new roles.
As previously announced, Eddie will be assuming the Seniors Vice Captaincy, however he has also kindly agreed to take over the responsibility from me for updating the Seniors page of the WBGC website etc with immediate effect. I’m not expecting any problems as I know that Eddie has the requisite IT skills and technology and there’s plenty of help available if needed, including my own watchful ‘seniors moment supervisors’ Roy & Richard 😉 Nevertheless, please be patient when we eventually get golf going, whilst Eddie familiarises himself with the system. Handover is now complete so any please direct any future queries to Eddie.

The pandemic has undoubtedly been a major obstacle for us all, in terms of mental health, physical health and not being able to be with our loved ones, not to mention golf. Thankfully, there’s much hope in the coming months for a return to some normality, both on and off the golf course and I for one very much look forward to that day. When we are eventually given the green light to resume golf, I firmly believe that as a section we are well organised, with our full golfing year already agreed and in readiness to go as soon as allowed. This is a prime example of your seniors committee working behind the scenes for you as members.

So in closing it is perhaps an appropriate time to thank you all for your much appreciated loyal support during my time not only as Seniors Captain, but since as a committee member. I sincerely hope that like me, you feel that together as a section we have achieved a competitive and friendly environment for seniors golf to be played and enjoyed and long may it continue.

Camaraderie and unity is the way forward and I trust that the same level of support will be given to not only Eddie and Tim, but to skipper Andrew and the rest of his committee.

Till we meet again, many thanks and please stay safe one and all. 🙏🏼

Big hugs (virtual) 🤗

Pete Leskovac ❤️

PS Elvis may have left the building, but he’s still gonna be about playing golf 😉
