Now that the dust has settled after yesterday’s West Bradford Golf Club Seniors Pairs 2020 Open ⛳️ and the celebrations for the winners are no doubt well under way 🍾, it’s perhaps a good time to recognise some of the people who contributed to making the event another very successful one.

Whilst the Covid-19 restrictions meant that this year’s open was at serious risk of having to be cancelled like many other golf clubs in the area actually did, the ‘Dunkirk’ spirit of West Bradford came to the fore when most needed!

Given the difficult financial circumstances our Seniors Section Committee made the decision to go ahead with the Open Day and to pass all profits on to the club. Key driver, promotor and communicator on behalf of the club was our very own Business Manager, Damian Connearn and he deserves much praise for the planning especially given the tight schedule. The communication of how the open day would run in the absence of a starter and clubhouse reception, including what specific distancing and hygiene measures had been undertaken by the club were instrumental in attracting visitors. #TheBeardedWonder 🧔🏻

Our jovial and helpful pro Jamie Coverley was the main man in charge on the day and he certainly reflected his beloved football team by delivering his own top of the table performance from start to finish! #JustChampion 😉

Provision of catering was always going to prove difficult, but despite the obstacles our club steward Toni Kenehan and her team were more than capable of delivering both food 🍔 and drink 🍺 to over 160 players on the day.

Last but by no means least is a big thank you to our Head Greenkeeper, Dave Hales and his team, who had to combat some extremely wet and windy weather conditions in the build up to the open, in order to prepare the course. Thankfully all their hard work and commitment to the cause paid off and an enjoyable day’s golf was had by all. 👍🏻

A personal thank you to our Seniors Committee for embracing technology and the wonders of Zoom 🖥 👴🏻, which enabled us to ‘meet up’ and discuss all within 40 minutes, which was an a achievement all on it’s own!

Finally, a huge thank you to all who attended, but in particular to our own members for their continued support, which is much appreciated 🙏🏼
