Week 2 of the Seniors Winter League was perhaps the last qualifier of the season before the long awaited World Handicap System, but that didn’t deter most in what was a high scoring day when over half the field made par or better, no doubt reflecting the quality of the greens.
It was also nice to welcome two ‘newbies’ in Chris Schofield and McMillan Serrant to the competition as they made their debuts as fully fledged and aged seniors! Hopefully their experience has not deterred them and they both come back next week for more of the same 🙏🏼
On the day Richard Adams top scored with an outstanding 43 points making it his best return of 2020 and in the process proving to an excellent advert for his newly supplied irons courtesy of our club pro Jamie 🏌🏻♂️👌🏻
2nd place on the day went to ever improving Wynn Parry with another impressive score of 41 points followed by Roy Baker on 39, who edged out John Dutton on countback.
A trio of 38’s was led by Tim Winterburn followed by Ray Hawley and Paul Winter with Mike Day and Ian Peirson a shot back on 37 to show the quality of seniors golf is alive and kicking for most 🙄
It’s only week 2 of what is likely to be a long winter’s golfing season, but the table already reveals its going to be a competitive one with 3 joint leaders in ‘super Senior’ Bob Helley, Richard Adams and Wynn Parry.
Next Monday 26 October sees the return of the newly formed Seniors Team League, which is stableford format from full handicap with all to count and average team score to determine the winner. Rules can be found on the seniors website.
As usual all entrants must submit their name to skipper Andrew no later than 3pm Friday with tee times posted to view on the club’s BRS site.
