As the Government announced a halt on golf as part of tier 4 restrictions it certainly didn’t have a negative impact on those seniors who were fortunate to be able to play in the Winter League week 3.
Sadly course conditions meant that some of our seniors were unable to play due to the club imposing a carry only policy, despite late night attempts from within to reverse the decision.

Spare a thought for poor old Colin Pitman who arrived in the club car park and realised he had left his coat at home so quickly turned around only to return and discover it was carry only resulting in another swift turnaround! 😬

With just the 9 holes loop in play everyone was thankful for Eddie Presland having the forethought to not only attend early but to bring his adjusted scorecards from last year 👍🏻

As for the much heralded launch of the new World Handicap System WHS, the least said the better! 🙄

With mats, forward tees and bunkers GUR it was always going to result in some decent scores and so it proved with 12 players beating par, 8 of whom scored 40 points or more!! 😮

Winner on the day and still top of the leaderboard was Wynn Parry with a humongous score of 48 points showing his 41 in week 2 was no flash in the pan 👏🏻

2nd on the day with 46 points was Pete Leskovac followed by 3 of our stalwarts with 44 each, Bob Helley, John Goodyear and Paul Winter.

Let’s all hope that the impending ban on golf can somehow be lifted and we can all be back within the month, weather permitting!
