The Captain's Away Day at Skipton yesterday was literally a breath of fresh air after all the recent restrictions and protocols . The stunning scenery and challenging course was enjoyed in lovely sunshine by all . However , I like a few others did not play particularly well and succumbed to Mr. Mc. Laren's wager , perhaps it balances his books from previous years deficits ! . Proceedings started well enough with the customary coffee and bacon sandwich and ended with a fine two course meal and prize giving . As usual there were various prizes given out but the player with the highest score of 41 points and winner this year of the Douglas Ingham Trophy was Andrew Sherriff . Andrew has only been a member at West Bradford a short time and has been " told " he better not win again!! . Congratulations to Andrew and all the other prize winners , the winners sheet will be on the board . I hope Paul Winter will be well soon and thank Steve Warner for filling the breach at the last moment. I must mention that the combined team score event was very close indeed . The winning team of Steve Godfrey , Steve Robinson and Andrew Sherriff had 100 points followed by teams on 99 , 98, 97, and 96 . Lets hope next years day out will be just as good .
As the title of this blog indicates , this will be my last one .After four years of being the Seniors Captain and previously Vice Captain I have decided to step down . As I mentioned yesterday , it has been a privilege and pleasure for me to represent the West Bradford Seniors Section at other golf clubs and events but I feel the time is right for some one else to take the reins and Mr Eddie Presland has agreed to do so . I hope and I'm sure you will give him all the help , support and encouragement that I was given over the years . My wife , Marish , is relieved that I will be able to spend a bit more time with her and focus our attention on other matters and that she doesn't , in her own words , have to do that bloody draw again !!. Ok , remain safe , have a good week end and hopefully see you on Monday for SCC Week 15 , thank you , Andrew .
