They say a point away from home is a good result and yesterday's friendly match at Northcliffe would be a fair reflection of that , with the over all game halved . With preparations for Northcliffe's centenary in place the course was in superb condition and the weather was all so in good form , as opposed to last years fixture called off because of rain . The results were , myself and Les Cooper won 5 & 4 , Mike Day and Peter Bower lost 4 & 3 , Colin Hayhurst and John Dutton halved , John Goodyear and Roy Baker lost 2 & 1 , Peter Mungovin and Eddie Presland won 2 & 1 , well done lads and we look forward to the return match here in mid August . My thanks go to Colin , Peter and John who stepped in at the last moment to complete the team and ' commiserations ' to all who missed out on my birthday buns and cake !, perhaps there will be another chance next year . Next Mondays game is a team game and I hope Eddie has posted the format on ' what's up '. Good luck ( including myself ) to all who have entered our Seniors pairs competition next Wednesday , lets hope its a fine day and every one enjoys it . Finally , I thought Norhcliffes current gate code of 1966 was very appropriate , COME ON ENGLAND!! . Cheers Andrew .
