Monday saw the start of the 2019 Senior Captain’s Cup, which is a handicap qualifying competition for over 55’s played over 20 weeks throughout the April-September period. The overall winner is the person with the best 8 cumulative stableford and medal scores from the 20 available weeks.

Whilst there were a few notable absences due to holidays and injuries there was still a good turnout for week 1, including a welcome return for two of West Bradford’s stalwarts in Colin Green and Keith Sutcliffe.

Winner on the day and laying down a marker for the year ahead was Ian Peirson closely followed by Alan Evans, Steve Crawshaw, Maurice Tillotson and ‘Super Senior’ Bob Helley.

However, shot of the day belongs to Colin Hayhurst, who managed a very impressive two on hole 4. Tee shot landed bunker right leaving a tricky up and downer. What followed has been rarely seen if at all as the ball came clean out of the bunker up in to the air and dropped directly in to the hole without a bounce!! Boom, a 2, net 1 and 4 points!! Well done Colin.

As the saying goes it’s a marathon and not a sprint so let’s see what week 2 reveals next Monday 15 April!

Please note that the various Seniors Section fixtures start shortly, commencing with a Gents/Ladies mixed event so feel free to enter your name on the respective lists on the Seniors notice board. All Seniors competitions and fixtures can be found on the notice board and online via the following link;
