An excellent day was had by all 124 players who played in the inaugural West Bradford Seniors Team Open Competition with lots of compliments about the course and in particular the greens. In fact, one visiting team who play at different seniors opens each week said the greens at West Bradford were the best they had played on this year and wanted me to pass on their thanks to our course manager, Rob Gee for a job well done.
The competition was 2 to count from 4, with all 4 counting on the final 2 holes.
Worthy winners with 95 stableford points (15 under par) were:-
S. Barrett, (Scarcroft G.C.) S. Grant (Scarcroft G.C.), N. Saunders (Bradford G.C.) and J. Hall (Scarcroft G.C.)
Just one point behind in 2nd place, with 94 Stableford points, were West Bradford’s very own in Mr President Chris Rodwell, Mr Captain Chris McLaren, Tim Hemingway and Jimmy Pollard
And in 3rd place, with 90 Stableford Points on countback were Ray Hawley (West Bradford), Ian Peirson (West Bradford), B. Worsley (Woolley Park), T. Dearden (Failhaven G.C.)
Nearest the Pin on Hole 14 was A. Ball (Penwortham G.C.)
Nearest the line on Hole 17 was S. Fox (Walmersley G.C.)
Nearest the Pin in 2 on Hole 18 was Steve Godfrey (West Bradford G.C.)
Many thanks to all who attended, our wonderful Ladies Section for managing the half way house, to Toni and her staff in the clubhouse, to Judith, Damian and Paul Winter on registration, to Mark Tyler and Mark in the pro shop, to Colin Green and Andrew Haigh for starter duties, to Alan Low for raking the bunkers, to all the other seniors section helpers and finally to Rob and his staff for presenting a pristine looking course.
